MOT Tester Training Course
To become an MOT Tester, you will need to achieve the MOT Qualification for each vehicle class that you want to test, which is a minimum of 24 hours training with at least eight hours practical.
You will need to complete a VT8 (Demonstration Test) which will be observed by the DVSA. This can be done at your Vehicle Testing Station or at MOT Learning Services.
Once you have achieved both the MOT Qualification and the VT8, you can then carry out MOT’s at a Vehicle Testing Station.
You will need:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a working garage
- A full UK driving licence for the vehicle test classes that you wish to conduct MOT tests on
- A level 3 qualification that is recognised by the DVSA, or you have previously completed a level 3 accreditation in light vehicle inspection or diagnostics.
