MOT Demonstration Test Booking
Step By Step Demonstration booking instructions
You must pass an MOT demonstration test when you’ve got your level 2 MOT testing certificate.
Step One - Add Your Certificate To Your MOT Tester Account
- Receive your qualification certificate.
- Login to your MOT testing service account, and at the top of the page select my profile.
- On the bottom right-hand side you will need to select add initial training certificate.
- Select add certificate into class B 3,4,5 and 7 entering your certificate number, date it was achieved and your Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) number. Please make sure this number is the VTS that you wish to be signed off at.
Step Two - DBS (data barring service)
- Request a basic DBS check – GOV.UK
- Select start DBS check, then fill in the form with all your current details (you will need to create an account).
- Once you have completed the form, you will receive and email within 3-6 working days with your report code and your DBS certificate number.
- Using the link in the email, this will send you to the gov.uk website and ask you to sign into the gov.uk account that you created above.
- Scroll down and press create check code.
- You will get three options – you need to select the middle option, which says that you want to share your code with someone else.
- Select get check code and it will produce a case sensitive code similar to this (G6 y4 tY 2a).
- Screen shot the code but don’t use it because it’s a one-time use code. Please remember the DVSA will not use a BDS check that is over three months old.
Step Three - Booking Your Demonstration Test
- Visit the government website to book an MOT tester demonstration test.
- Scroll down the page and you will see a green start now button.
- Select the correct option for your position.
- The next option is have you uploaded your training certificate to the MTS. If you’ve followed this it was done in step 1.
- Next step will be have you done a DBS check with check code that was done in step 2.
- The next page will be your DBS certificate number and Check code. Make sure you copy your code over exactly the same, as it is case sensitive.
- The next option is the test class you’re going to be testing, so select 4 and 7.
- The next page will be your MOT testing service user I.D. (EG. SMIT1234).
- Next option will be the name, address and VTS number of the MOT testing station where you would like to do your sign off test.
- The next page gives you the option of what test you will be doing for your initial sign off. It will always be a two person test, so please select that option.
- The next page on this form is all your details. Please make sure you double check these as these will be the contact details that the DVSA use to book your demonstration test.
- Read and Acknowledge the declaration by selecting the agree and continue box.
- If you then submit, it will continue to say you have successfully booked your demonstration test.
- We always recommend going to the three little dots in the righthand corner and printing your forms off, you have then got a hard copy of your booking.
- The DVSA have a service level agreement which states that they will contact you within four weeks, please wait patiently until they contact you. However, if you get into the third week of your four week period please contact the DVSA helpdesk.
